The soccer year runs from August 1 to July 31.
A player's age group is constant for the soccer year*.


The Shepaug Soccer Club is a member of the Northwest District of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) and is governed by all rules, regulations and policies they set forth.  All Club personnel and coaches must go through background checks before becoming a part of the program.


Age Cutoffs – Determination of player’s age is based on age he or she is on August 1 of the soccer year*.

Fall Registration – A current photo and copy of birth certificate is required for fall registrations for the travel programs, U9 and up,  if the player has never played in our program before. Programs for the younger children do not require this.

Spring Registration – A current photo and copy of birth certificate for the travel program is not required if the player played in the fall or is a current member of the Club.  Programs for the younger children again do not require this. 

Dinomites Soccer – For players ages 3 through 7 (pre-school  - 1st grade). Determination of age cutoff is based on player’s age by December 31 of the soccer year*.  In the fall these programs are run as small teams with volunteer coaches teaching curriculum and in the spring they are run with soccer clinicians.

U8 Division** – Includes 7 & 8 year olds with separate divisions for boys and girls if enough players are available. It is a recreational program with emphasis on development of individual skills, field position and the rules of the game. Practices are held during the week and games are played on Saturdays. Games are held on a smaller size fields.

U9, U10  and U11** - Starting with the U9 age bracket and up, the Club has separate boys and girls teams if enough players are available. All the teams travel to play teams in the same Division in local towns. Teams play 8 vs. 8 for 35 minute halves with a size 4 ball.  There are 3 divisions - A , B or C and determination of what division each team is in depends upon the strength and abililty of each team in the district. 

For all ages U9 and up, practice is generally twice a week with games on Saturdays.  A division games are played on Sundays.

 U12** – Teams play 11 vs.11 for 40 minute halves and a size 4 ball.

U13 and U14** – Teams play 11 vs.11 for 40 minute halves and a size 4 ball.

U19**- Spring Season Only – Generally 11 vs. 11 but can be 8 vs. 8, full size field and goals, 45 minute halves, size 5 ball.
